Have you ever thought what you want to be doing after 5 years ? Do you know what you want to achieve by the end of the day ?
You need to set goals to achieve. Without goals you lack focus and direction.
What goal setting does ?
- It provides focus.
- It shapes your dream.
- It lets you know what life is.
- It makes you do impossible, possible.
- It gives you the ability to prove yourself.
- It helps you to plan how you want to move through your life.
To accomplish your goals, you need to know how to set them. You can’t simply say, “I want it” and “I expect it” to happen. Goal setting is a process of considering what you want to achieve, and with a lot of hard work to do it ends. In order to reach your goals, you become better.
The Golden way to approach your goal…
1.Make SMART Goal Approach
A specific goal will usually answer the five W’s (What, Why, Who, Where, and Which). Writing specific objectives builds out your goal so you can easily identify what you want to execute.
If your goal is not measurable, you can’t check your progress. You need to address the question, “How will I know when this is done?”
Your goal must be realistic or possible one. I would love to fly like a bird by jumping off a mountain with no parachute, but gravity would have the last word in that interaction. However, learning to jump off a mountain with a hang glider is more realistic.
If your goal doesn’t give you happiness, it isn’t worth pursuing. Make sure you are give your 100% in your approach. So, you stay motivated to achieve it.
Have deadline. It helps you. Otherwise it’s just a dream that never gonna become reality. Putting down a deadline makes you more committed to bringing it to realization.
2.Write your goals down and display them to Eyes
“I hear and I forget; I see and I remember; I write and I understand”.
A large portion of your goal is already accomplished as soon as you write it down. A study showed that among people who wrote down their goals, 77% accomplished them.
Your goals become real once you write them down. They are touchable words on paper, not an ethereal dream in your mind.
3.Break Big Goals Into Small
“How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!”
The same thing followed for big goals! Break them down into manageable monthly, weekly and daily actionable bites. If you don’t do it, you may lose motivation if the goal seems far away or too big to accomplish.
4. Make an Action Plan
“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” – Benjamin Franklin
The best gift you can give yourself is a neat action plan. Take time to organise all of your little daily and weekly goals in one place. So, you can easily check your progress.
5.Do Your Goals ASAP
“The sun has not caught me in bed in fifty years.” – Thomas Jefferson
If you study successful people, you will find that most of the time they do more homework on their goals. To get a good start in the morning, start the day off with your goals. By doing that, you will always find time.
6.Make Sure Your Goals Inspire
“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.” – Albert Einstein
Your goals should be a major source of joy in your life. Your goals must be one of the main reasons, you get out of bed every morning. If your goals doesn’t inspire, you need to re-evaluate them.
9. Set Multiple Goals in Life Areas
“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” – Michel Angelo
Don’t just reserve your goals for your career. You should challenge yourself to set some of the goals listed below..
- Fitness goals
- Finance goals
- Family goals
- Relationships goals
- Educational goals
- Spiritual goals
- Health goals and
- Adventure goals.
Life will always keep testing you. At the end of the day, only your goals gonna help you out. Good goals set good life.
